should offense be taken?

Yesterday, I was doing my usual volunteering in Josh's kindergarten class. His teacher comes up to me and says "I tested Josh and he can read 104 words per minute." I say Wow! That is great. We talk a minute of how is fluency is great, his comprehension is great...etc. She then says " I have been talking with first grade teachers about Josh, and they all say "Wow! - I hope I dont get him in my class!""..... That comment is killing me!!! Why wouldnt anyone want my sweet boy in their class!?

I would assume this is usually the case for kids with bad behavior...not because they are so dang smart!

Maybe it was supposed to come across as a compliment? I dont know.

How would you have taken it?

Does jacobb have one?

My neighbor was telling me a story about when my kids were at her house the other night:

"Josh is walking outside with a plate of pizza and I asked him, would you like a napkin? He turns around and says - does Jacobb have one?"

She ended up giving him napkins for him and Jacobb.

Too funny.

Jared is fixing to mow the lawn and the neighbor boy, Seth, is over with his lawnmower talking to Jared. Seth checks out Jareds' lawnmower and says "Hey! My Dad has that same lawnmower -instead its different!"

MOTHERS DAY~

Happy late mother's day to all you mother's out there.

I had a very nice Mother's Day. I woke up to Joshy giving me this:

Actually, I had to ask for it. I think he forgot about it since he made it in school and brought it home 2 weeks early, because they went off track, so he had to hide it. However, I couldnt wait to see what he made for me! Can you believe his penmanship!? Inside this envelope made with love was:

They are magnets. Josh is way into art and drawing roses. I now have a rose magnet and a Josh magnet. I love them!

We started the day with Jareds Mom, Cynthia. Cynthia is a FABULOUS Mom, Mother in Law and Grandma. We/I couldn't be luckier to have her around. We wanted to take her to breakfast for Mother's Day, but as usual, it was her treat. Thank you!

To top off the day I got to have my FABULOUS Mom over along with some other wonderful Mothers (L to R): Lisa, My Mom, me, Teena (evie), Angela and Katie. I love these girls to death and I am so glad that they were able to come over.

To my Mom: I think you are the best Mom and Grandma and I appreciate everything you do for us. My kids enjoy spending time with you. They had such a great time at lunch the other day! I miss seeing you on Mondays more than you will ever know. I am so glad I have got to see you the past 2 times I went to the post office. Hope to talk to you soon! Love, Barbi

Cynthia: You are also one of the best Moms and Grandma's around. You have shown Jared how to be such a great person and he is the best husband, and example, because of that. My kids love their grandma Cynthia. Thanks for everything you do for us!

Lisa, Teena, Katie, Krystal, Star & Amanda (sorry if I missed anyone - i dont think too many people read this): You are all wonderful moms in so many different ways. Some of you are way patient with your kids, some of you bring fun and laughter into your families, some of you are disciplined, some of you have religion but most of all, your kids know how much you love and adore them. I am lucky to have you as my friends.

I know Shirley will never read this, she doesnt even own a computer, but I cant forget her. Shirley you are a very special great grandma and I am so happy that my kids have gotten to know you and Tom. Most kids arent able to know their great grandparents like my kids do. You mean the world to them.

I love being a Mom. I was thrown into this motherhood thing at the young age of 20, and I have loved it so much. They are such sweet, mommas boys. I am so lucky.

getting older sucks.

In April I signed up for a "butts and guts" class in an effort to get "toned up" for summer. Damn! I thought I was going to get ripped! Buns of steel and atleast a six pack! However, I think I was confused when they said to go home and eat lots of protein. I did indeed go home and eats lots and lots of protein..... it was in the form of Peanut Butter M&M's. Those things are the bomb! I ate handfuls and handfuls getting lots of that protein.

Well, the class is over and I dont have either of those. I think I took advantage of the "protein" part. Instead of buns of steel, I still have the same saggy ass and a new and improved spare tire. What the hell?

People tell me it is the 30's metabolism. Once you turn 30 all your weight starts hanging on. Isn't your excess wait supposed to melt off once you start even thinking about exercise? Or after you exercise once? That is the way it should be!

Maybe I will think about going on a diet, but until then, I am going to bug Katie for a beer and bitch about my clothes being too tight.

Atleast my husband thinks the 30's jiggle is SEXY~

Update

So I finally heard from my Dad! He told me he had the whole forest service after him.! Very Funny. Sounds like David did his job! :)

He had a great time.

Brotherly Love ~ Part 2

Though I never had a sister or a sisterly "bond" ~ I have always had the best brothers. Atleast they are the best now. When I was 16 they were annoying, and they can still be annoying now, but not like back then! I love to get together with them and everyone seems to get along so well. It's fabulous!

Anyway, I got to thinking after my last post, and mostly this morning, how important my family is to me. I have mentioned before (not on this blog) that if Jared ever got a job offer of $1 Million dollars that required we move out of state, I would never do it. I would rather stay here in Utah, and live paycheck to paycheck, to be with family. Not just my family of four, but all of my brothers and their wives (yes, I ADORE my sis in laws), my niece(s) and nephews, Jareds family, his grandparents, my Mom and especially my DAD, I couldnt live without them.

My Dad, who I occasionally refer to as my second main man, is on a riverrafting trip down in Moab and I hope he is having a blast! However, I am a stress case. I counted down the days until he was (yes WAS) supposed to be calling me. My Dad clearly counted down in front of me the days he would be on the river and when he would call me. It went like this "we get on the river Monday, and then Tuesday, Wednesday ( he is counting on his fingers) I will be to my car on Thurdsay morning. I will call you when I get there." 24 hours later, still no call!

Now, another important person in my life, who is pretty much family, is David. David steps in when Dad is away. When Dad doesnt call, I call David. THANKFULLY! (I think it is because David knows I am a spaz) David has been in touch with the river rafting people down in Moab, who tell David that Dad's trip is a 5 day trip not a 3 day trip which is why we haven't yet heard from Dad. This should be good news right? It is good news, except for now I spin the situation to his medicine! oh my god, his medicine!! He thought it was only going to be 3 days not 5 days!! Did he take enough medicine?!?! and then the tears start flowing again. My Dad is diabetic who needs his meds.

You see, all of this anguish I bring on myself, is a fear of losing my Dad, or someone I love. I know deep down inside that my Dad is okay. But I cant be so sure. I cant let my guard down. I need to hear his voice telling me that he made it off the river, he is okay, and he is now going to sleep for the next 2 days becuase he is exhausted.

I love the fact that I am surrounded by my family, including my wonderful husband who told me he would drive me down to Moab if I wanted him to, where we can all work together and kick dad's butt the minute he is off the river for not counting the days correctly! Or maybe even for signing up for such a dangerous activity anyways! (oh wait, that will probably only be me..) But mostly for the support that Dad will be just fine.

Brotherly Love

I am the only girl out of 4 boys and smack dab in the middle of them all. I occasionally wondered when I was younger what it would be like to have a sister and/or a sisterly "bond". Since that was (obviously) not possible I usually turned to my closest girlfriends to fill that gap. To me that friendship was the closest to a sister I could ever have and it worked for me.

I always (well usually, unless they are fighting) proudly watch and listen in amazement when Jacobb and Josh are together. Josh does anything and EVERYTHING Jacobb does down to the color of underwear they are wearing. When we go out to dinner, Josh doesn't even look at the menu: "He'll have what Jacobb is having".

This morning Jake asks if he can have ramen noodles for lunch at K.R. So of course Josh wants ramen noodles as well. I am about to turn into H to buy them, and I hear Josh say "though I dont really like K.R.'s spoons, I will have ramen noodles since Jacobb is having ramen noodles." I then say to Josh "you like your big brother dont you?" and Josh says in his most confident tone "now that is true" as in you bet I do.

In watching my boys grow up together, I am learning there is nothing like the bond of a brother / sister. Even though my girlfriends did a pretty good job filling in.
